Prakhar joined The University of Chicago in August 2003. He is focused on the absolute return portfolio as well as risk management and asset allocation for the endowment. Previously, he was with Morningstar Inc. for seven years, most recently as Senior Quantitative Analyst. Prakhar holds an M.B.A. in Analytic Finance and Economics with high honors from The University of Chicago, an M.S. from The Ohio State University and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He has been a CFA charter holder since 2004.
Christina joined the University of Chicago’s Office of Investments as an Administrative Assistant in July of 2007. She provides general administrative support to those investment professionals responsible for absolute return and hedge fund investments, coupled with technology liaison duties and special office related projects. Christina has supported executive staff members in a variety of fields throughout the U.S., including: corporate event planning, real estate client-service management, and diversified real estate investment management.
Charlynne joined the Office of Investments as an Administrative Assistant in November 2006. She provides general administrative support to those investment professionals responsible for private equity and real assets. Charlynne holds a B.S. in Business from the University of Maryland and has worked overseas for Marine Corps Community Services in Okinawa, Japan, as a magazine editor and the U.S. Embassy in Suriname, South America, as an assistant to the political and economic officers.
Sasha joined the Office of Investments as a Portfolio Analyst in June 2007. Her role is to examine investments across asset classes and to research new investment opportunities. Sasha holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
Irene joined the University of Chicago in 1977 as an Assistant Trader. Currently, she manages the University's money market vehicle, which invests all the cash of the University. She is also responsible for the back office operations for money market instruments, bonds, and gifts. Irene holds a B.S. in Management from DePaul University.
Jordan joined The University of Chicago Office of Investments as a Portfolio Analyst for Private Equity in May 2006. He currently provides analytical and quantitative support to the Director of Private Equity. Previously, he has worked as an Economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics where he maintained the quality and integrity of the Pre-Packaged Software component of the Producer Price Index and prior to that as a Financial Analyst with Strong Investments. Jordan earned his Masters in Public Policy from The University of Chicago and a B.S. with Honors in Economics with a Mathematical Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also currently an M.B.A. candidate at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
Christopher joined the Investment Office in April 2004 after five years at the Brown University Investment Office. Most recently, he worked as Managing Director - Real Assets & Private Equity and had primary responsibility for Brown's investments in real estate, timber, commodities, and oil and gas. Before joining Brown in 1999 Christopher was a Senior Performance Analyst at Wellington Management Company for five years, and held a number of different positions at a Boston-based bank for eight years prior to that. Christopher holds an M.B.A., cum laude, from the Babson College Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts. He has been a CFA charter holder since 1996.
Regina joined The University of Chicago in 1999. As the Manager of Investment Operations, she oversees the daily operational and administrative needs of the Investment Office and backs up the COO as necessary. Additionally she spearheads the daily requirements of the office's relationship with the custodial bank and Comptroller's Office. Her previous experience includes positions as an office manager for the advertising sales office of a magazine publisher and as a research director with an executive search firm specializing in advertising. Regina holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in business from DePaul University’s School for New Learning.
Tania joined the Investment Office in August 2003. She is responsible for accepting, valuing and processing gifts of securities and cash, acting as liaison with campus, brokers and banks, database management and the compilation of the quarterly report to the Investment Committee. Tania holds a B.S. in Finance from Elmhurst College.
Patrick joined the University of Chicago in September 2000 and is currently Director of Private Equity. From 1997 to 2000, he was a Risk Management Analyst at ABN-AMRO Asset Management. Prior to that, he held the position of Performance Measurement Analyst at LaSalle National Trust, and had been a Senior Portfolio Analyst with The Northern Trust Company. Patrick holds an M.B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been a CFA charter holder since 2000.
Christine joined the University of Chicago in March of 1999. She spearheads the analysis, due diligence and management of the Real Assets portfolio. Past responsibilities have included analysis and due diligence of the Private Equity portfolio and Network Systems Administration. Christine holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Public Health Administration from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Amanda joined the Investments Office in July 2007 as a portfolio analyst. Her role is to examine investments across asset classes and research new investment opportunities. Previously, she worked as an investment banking analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Bank of Montreal. Amanda holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in Business Administration from Loyola University of New Orleans.
Auga has worked in the Office of Investments for over twenty years in various capacities and has experience working with custodian banks and other University departments. She also has many years of experience working with performance analysis, Investment Committee reports, and investment system software. Her work experience prior to joining the University includes several brokerage firms, a mutual fund company, and the Midwest Stock Exchange. Auga holds a B.S. in Liberal Arts from the University of Illinois, Champaign.
Betsy joined The University of Chicago Office of Investments team in December 2007. Before joining The University of Chicago, Betsy was Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development at optionsXpress, an online trading and brokerage firm. Previously, she was a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of BMO Capital Markets where she was employed from 1997 to 2006 and prior to that she was with Merrill Lynch in the Private Sales and Divestiture Group where she was engaged in merger and acquisition assignments for middle market companies.
Betsy earned a M.B.A. from Georgetown University and received her Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Tufts University.
Joanna joined the University of Chicago in 2001 as the Manager of Public Equities. From 1997 to 2000, she was a Vice President with Security Capital Markets Group where she was responsible for structuring real estate transactions for institutional investors and providing investment banking services to affiliated companies. Earlier in her career, Joanna was with the Municipal Finance Group at Goldman, Sachs in New York and Chicago. Prior to that, she was an Asset/Liability Manager for U.S. Central Credit Union responsible for fixed income portfolio management, fixed income derivatives strategy and new product development. Joanna holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, cum laude, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. She has been a CFA charter holder since 2004.
Dale joined the University of Chicago in July. From 2006 to 2008, he was a Director of Application Development at RSG/Bowne. From 2002 - 2006, he worked at The Northern Trust Company on performance and reporting systems, and most recently, managing the Benefit Payment Systems team. Dale holds a M.S. in Artificial Intelligence from DePaul University, with distinction, and a B.S. in Information and Computing Science from the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay.
Peter joined the University of Chicago in July 2005 from Princeton University Investment Company. At Princeton, Peter was a Managing Director, focused on investments in hedge funds, domestic equities and fixed income, as well as broader portfolio functions. Prior to his five years at Princeton, Peter spent approximately fifteen years in a variety of fund management and trading roles at hedge funds and investment banks. Peter holds an A.B. in Mathematics from Brown University. He has been a CFA charter holder since 2003.
Matthew joined the University of Chicago's Office of Investments staff as Portfolio Manager in July 1999. He advanced to Assistant Vice President and Director of Absolute Return Investments in July 2001. He is focused on the development and management of the Absolute Return portfolio. From 1995 to 1999, he was Vice President of the Portfolio Services Group at Arbor Research & Trading in Barrington, Illinois. He has also been a fixed income consultant for BARRA, a futures contract designer for the Chicago Board of Trade, a computer programmer, and money market trader for a $4.5 billion bank. Matt holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School. He has been a CFA charter holder since 1997.
Mark joined the University of Chicago, Office of Investments in June 2008 as a Portfolio Analyst. His role is to examine investments across asset classes and research new investment opportunities. Previously, he worked as an investment banking analyst intern in the Industrials group at Deutsche Bank in New York City. Mark holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.
Denise Wheatley joined the Office of Investments as an Executive Assistant in December of 2007. She provides administrative support to the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Denise holds a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois and has supported executive staff members in various fields, including publishing, sales and marketing, and real estate management. She is also a published author, having penned a variety of books, short stories, and articles.
