Academic Year 2015-16 Intern
Experience
I’ve had a great experience as an academic year intern at the Office of Investments! I work on impactful projects that I know are important contributions to the Operations Team and to the greater function of the Office. Through these projects, I’ve gained project management skills that will benefit me throughout my career. I am never micro-managed and am trusted with responsibilities. I’m grateful for this type of internship environment because I am encouraged to think critically. Everyone is extremely friendly and supportive.
At the same time, I’m learning about how we manage the University’s endowment, which is perfect given my interest in investing. And since the internship is within the Operations Team, I’m also learning about the critical work that they carry out to monitor performance and improve efficiency.
Advice to Future Interns
This is a great internship for anyone who is interested in investments! You will learn a lot about how a university manages its endowment, so it is important to have a genuine interest in the work. And to be successful, it is incredibly important to be detail-oriented. I believe that being meticulous, especially when working with data, has helped me be successful in this position.
