Matthew H. Stone, CFA
Assistant Vice President, Managing Director of Public Markets and Absolute Return

Matt is the managing director for the Office of Investments’ public markets and absolute return portfolios, a position he has held since 2009. His team is responsible for investment decisions in public equities, hedge funds, private debt, fixed income, and credit investments. Matt joined the Office of Investments as a portfolio manager in 1999 and advanced to assistant vice president and director of absolute return investments in 2001.

From 1995 to 1999, Matt was vice president of the portfolio services group at Arbor Research & Trading in Barrington, Illinois. He has also been a fixed income consultant for BARRA, a futures contract designer for the Chicago Board of Trade, a computer programmer, and a money market trader.

Matt earned an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in economics from the Wharton School. He is a CFA Charterholder.
